Sip & Etch - Ceramic Etching Class

Sip & Etch - Ceramic Etching Class

Sip estate wines as you paint and carve your very own masterpiece in this 2 hour class centered around the ancient art of sgraffito, a surface design technique of scratching or carving through a layer of color to reveal the contrasting hue of the clay underneath.

All experience levels are welcome, and students will be provided with materials, tools, and forms to practice sgraffito and make their own unique piece! In this workshop, we will be working with premade forms that will be built by your instructor ahead of time and cured to the optimal stage of dryness for a successful carving experience. Choose your own colors and come with design ideas, the rest will be provided to you in class! Clay, pigmented slips, tools and firing services are included in the cost of class.

After the workshop concludes, we will fire and glaze the work and it will be ready for pick up within 2-3 weeks at the winery.
